[power clean] + [power snatch] -- good online coaching
By and large, “online coaching” is a scam. It does not work very well because the coach can only *instruct* after the workout is complete, not *cue* in real time. Problems that could be corrected in minutes end up taking weeks to fix. Paradoxically, the most intimidating looking movement patterns — the Olympic lifts — are perhaps the only place where actual coaching can occur in the online environment. The clean and snatch take about a second to do. Cueing mid rep is therefore impossible, even in person. Only instruction *after* the rep is feasible, and an online coach can deliver this just as well as an in person coach.
When giving feedback on a clean or snatch, the coach is trying to teach the client to coach himself. His instruction is designed to increase body awareness so that the lifter can learn to feel and fix tiny deviations from the model on his own. This skill carries over to all of the other lifts.
Many people are reluctant to try the Olympic lifts on their own. They want a coach standing next to them to “keep them from hurting themselves”. These same people are usually happy to learn how to squat and deadlift from an online coach. They have it exactly backwards.
