[recovery] -- food
Nutrition is a highly contentious and often contradictory topic. However, it is possible to construct a few basic rules for any successful nutrition plan.
(1) Eat single ingredient foods only.
(2) Eat high quality protein from fish, meat, eggs, and whole milk dairy.
(3) Do not chase fat but do not be afraid of it. Worry instead about sugar and seed oils.
(4) Salt all meals to taste.
(5) Eat foods that are easy to digest. Avoid foods that cause gas or bloating.
(6) Drink nothing but water.
Stan Efferding’s Vertical Diet integrates all of these principles into a sustainable and easy to follow diet plan. He is by far the most sensible voice in the nutrition world today.
Good nutrition, like good training, should be as simple as possible and aim to increase performance. Many successful athletes eat the same food everyday. More variety is not necessarily better.
