[secede] -- church fathers
The ruling class wants to erase Western history. They have succeeded to such a degree that many of our most formative intellectual figures are now virtually unknown. The Church Fathers are an unfortunate casualty of this crusade. These men were responsible for developing the creeds, doctrines, and interpretations of Scripture that virtually all Christians today take for granted. The window that they provide into the soul of Late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages is unmatched. It is therefore necessary to become acquainted with them.
There are four great Latin fathers (Ambrose, Jerome, Augustine of Hippo, and Pope Gregory I) and four great Greek fathers (Athanasius of Alexandria, Gregory of Nazianzus, Basil of Caesarea, and John Chrysostom).
Since Augustine is the best known and most widely available, he makes a logical starting point. But since the Fathers have fallen so much out of favor, their works are difficult to find. Thriftbooks or eBay have a few, but for immediate access, audiobooks are best. Here are some links.

The Fathers are not light reading. Their worldview is radically different from ours, and they think deeply about things that people today scarcely even consider. They can be long winded and even downright boring at times. However, to those able to rise above the prejudices of our militantly secular and “scientific” society, they still have much to say.
