[secede] -- the Church
Covid demonstrated that our institutions are rotten to the core and probably have been for a long time. As such, this blog encourages people to disregard State direction, think for themselves, and take personal responsibility for everything they can. At the same time, it also reverences Catholic and Orthodox tradition. Why not be consistent and reject *all* authority?
Christianity is unique among the world’s religions because it claims that God became man. He was physically present with a certain group of people at a certain time in history and not present with others. Christianity is not a philosophical system but a confrontation with a real flesh and blood person. An individual’s character cannot be deduced from First Principles. It is an empirical question. Therefore, the words of a person who spent time with Christ, no matter how lowly, mean more than the words of person who did not, not matter how brilliant.
Thankfully, the Apostles did not let their encounter be lost to the ages. They taught successors — the Church. Because the Church is composed of flawed humans operating across vast geographical, cultural, and temporal distances, entropy has undoubtedly crept in. However, by virtue of her lineage, the Church’s sacraments and her teachings on faith and morals are still the closest we can get to Christ today. It would be foolish to ignore them.
